India Among World's Poorest Countries

Bangladesh

Bangladesh faces political instability, poor infrastructure, corruption, insufficient power supplies,

slow implementation of economic reforms and recently facing the 2008-09 global financial crisis and recession.

Although more than half of GDP is generated through the service sector agriculture, half of Bangladeshis are employed in the agriculture sector with rice as the single-most-important product. Garment exports are the backbone of Bangladesh’s industrial sector and contribute to 80 percent of total exports.

Though in recent years, industrial sector became dormant with  series of factory accidents that killed over 1,000 workers and also from the strikes that form one of the major reason behind a shutdown of economic activities in the country.

With such fragile conditions prevailing in the country, five percent of the population lives in extreme poor conditions.

Congo, Democratic Republic

Congo has residents of over 200 African ethnic groups of which the majority are Bantu; the four largest tribes - Mongo, Luba, Kongo (all Bantu), and the Mangbetu-Azande (Hamitic) make up about 45 percent of the population.

The educational scenario in this country is far from reach and thus the literacy rate is quiet low and exposure to advancements is also nearly zero. The economy of Congo is slowly recovering after decades of decline.

It is a wealthy nation endowed with vast natural resources. Regular occurrence of corruption since independence in 1960, fused with country-wide instability and conflict that began in the mid-90s has dramatically reduced national output and government revenue as well as increasing external debt.

The population is facing all sorts of problem and the standard of living has degraded which is giving way for a rise in poverty Congo continues to experience violence committed by other armed groups including the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda and Mai Mai groups.
