IBM launched a new tool called GenAI Assistant for Coding
IBM has announced the launch of its WatsonX Code Assistant, a generative AI-powered tool that helps enterprise developers and IT operators write code more efficiently and accurately using natural language prompts. This product has two specific use cases for enterprises. The first use case is IT Automation with WatsonX Code Assistant for Red Hat Ansible Lightspeed, which focuses on tasks such as network configuration and code deployment.
IBM offers two mainframe application modernization solutions, one of which is WatsonX Code Assistant for Z. This product is designed to convert COBOL to Java on IBM Z, with the goal of accelerating development while prioritizing trust, security, and compliance. It utilizes generative AI based on IBM's Granite foundation models for code, running on the IBM WatsonX platform. IBM is actively exploring ways to further enhance WatsonX Code Assistant, including adding domain-specific generative AI capabilities to assist with code generation, code explanation, and the entire software development lifecycle, to drive enterprise application modernization.
