Google Launches Revolutionary Career Certificates Fund

Social Finance will offer to fund nonprofit partners like Merit America and Year Up, who in turn will furnish services like career coaching, living stipends, and job placement aid

FREMONT, CA: Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently announced a new hundred million USD Google Career Certificates Fund that will prepare professionals for high-growth, high-paying jobs in data analytics, project management, UX/UI design, and IT Support. In the press conference of Alphabet, the Indian-American CEO said that the fund's goal is to enable Social Finance to reach over twenty thousand Americans. The investment is America's future will potentially drive one billion USD in wages.

'Designed around students' success,' over 70,000 Americans have now finished their certifications. The certifications are available to anyone, and no college degrees are required to enroll. 75% of the certified professionals have witnessed a positive impact on their careers within the first six months of taking the program, including a raise in existing jobs' salary.

Picha called the fund a new kind of financing model, with the search giant investing Google capital and Google.org grants and delivering its Career Certificate program. Social Finance will offer to fund nonprofit partners like Merit America and Year Up, who in turn will furnish services like career coaching, living stipends, and job placement aid. Google will connect students to an employer consortium of more than 150 companies looking to employ workers with these skills. Students will be offered all of this at no upfront cost. And will only pay it back once they find a job earning at least $40,000 a year. Social Finance will redistribute those repayments to future students, making this model more sustainable. "It's another promising example of how the entire ecosystem can work together to help more Americans access economic opportunities," said Pichai. The Indian-American CEO also said that he is very excited to see the way these courses transform the lives of young people, their families, and communities.
