Flipkart and Bajaj Auto Partner for Eco-Friendly Deliveries with Green Machines

Bajaj Auto Ltd, renowned as the world’s top-rated manufacturer of two-wheelers and three-wheelers, has joined forces with Flipkart, a prominent player in India's e-commerce sector. Together, they aim to hasten the integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into Flipkart's final delivery services. This partnership marks a noteworthy advancement toward a more environmentally sustainable future for India's online retail industry, as per an official announcement.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on May 10 by Bajaj Auto and Flipkart spokespersons – Samardeep Subandh, President (Intracity Business Unit, Bajaj Auto Ltd) and Prabhu Balasrinivasan, Vice President, Commercial, Flipkart Group, Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce, Flipkart Group, lays the foundation for a long-term business partnership between Bajaj Auto and Flipkart.
The preliminary agreement, though not legally binding, entails the provision of at least 1000 cutting-edge electric three-wheeler cargo vehicles to Flipkart, opening avenues for future collaboration and potential fleet enlargement. Embracing Bajaj’s top-notch EV technology will enable Flipkart to bolster the effectiveness and eco-friendliness of its final delivery services. This partnership positions both Bajaj Auto and Flipkart as trailblazers in embracing sustainable approaches within India’s dynamic e-commerce logistics sector.
Talking about the MoU with Flipkart, Samardeep Subandh, spokesperson from Bajaj Auto Ltd., stated, “As e-commerce continues to scale up rapidly, the impact of last-mile logistics will increase significantly in India. Driving sustainability in last-mile logistics has been a key agenda for Flipkart, India’s homegrown ecommerce marketplace. Bajaj Auto, the global leader in 3 Wheelers and Flipkart will now join hands to drive this transition towards a 100% sustainable last-mile fleet for Flipkart. As a part of this partnership, Bajaj Auto will provide 1000+ electric cargo vehicles over two years. The Bajaj Cargo ETEC products will provide the best-in-class performance and reliability driven by its innovative design and features, which are gaining rapid acceptance in the market.”
