Fighting Corruption at RAW, Author Moves Court

Bangalore: The author of the controversial book, ‘India's External Intelligence: Secrets of Research and Analysis Wing’, Retired Major General V K Singh moved a trial court demanding an FIR against certain RAW officers allegedly involved in corruption, based on the details in his book. His move is to frame corruption charges against some of the officers in the agency in connection with the procurement of some communication equipment.

VK Singh demanded action against the officers under the Prevention of Corruption Act in a petition filed before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav, alleging that the General had noticed certain instances of corruption during his tenure. It’s learned that the instance of corruption was in reference to the procurement of UHF/VHF antenna and said an internal inquiry was conducted by ex-RAW Officer.

The retired general also claimed that despite sending the complaint to the Central Bureau of Investigation, no action was taken against the accused. “The complainant on October 29, 2008, sent a detailed complaint in this regard to the then director, Central Bureau of Investigation. The said complaint evoked no response," the petition said, said an article Times of India. He even filed an RTI in January, 2009 to get an idea about the status of his complaint and in replay, he was told that it had not been disposed off and the matter was under inquiry.
