1. Reita Faria:

Reita Faria, now known as Reita Faria Powell, after she married David Powell in 1971, is the first ever Indian women to win the prestigious Miss World title for the nation in the year 1966. Born in the year 1945 in Bombay, she won the Miss Bombay crown in the year 1966 which made her way to win the Eve’s Weekly Miss India contest to get selected into the Miss World contest in the same year. After she won the Miss World contest, she refused to continue in the field of modeling, as she preferred concentrating on the medical studies. She completed her M.B.B.S degree at the Grant Medical College & Sir J.J. Group of hospitals. She now lives in Dublin, Ireland along with her husband. She has also judged the Miss India Contest in 1998 and has also judged quite a few of the Miss World competition on a few occasions as well.
