Extraordinary Indians Who Make Us Proud

Mayank Dawar, Chaitanya Chhabra and Mohit Bahl:

Looking at the increasing number of road accidents involving two-wheelers, a device that could send out an SOS for a motorist who lay critically injured, was indeed the need of the hour.

The three students from Manav Rachna College of Engineering in Faridabad, Mayank Dawar, Chaitanya Chhabra and Mohit Bahl have developed a ‘Smart Skull,’ a life-saving helmet device for bikers. The device has a crash detection system which is paired with the rider’s smartphone.

In the event of an accident or crash, the device gets activated and through the smart phone, it automatically makes a call to the victim’s family/relatives and informs them about the mishap. The device consumes minimum power of about 3.3 volts and is equipped for an impact detection of up to 200 gm force.

Explaining about the device, Chaitanya Chhabra, exclaimed, “It took us one and half months to make this device and before making it, we did our research and spoke to Neuro-surgeons also. At first they told us how important it is to admit a patient in time since most of the deaths take place because the patients lose out on precious medical aid. So, this device will prove to be of huge benefit,” reports Deccan Herald.
