Cyient Launches Digital Centres In Telangana
HYDERABAD: Leading IT services provider Cyient on Monday launched 54 Cyient Digital Centres (CDC) in government-run schools in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana.
The centres were launched as part of Cyient's Corporate Social Responsiblity (CSR) initiative on completing 25 years.
Telangana IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao, along with Cyient founder and executive chairman B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, launched the centres envisaged to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's National Digital Literacy Mission.
Each CDC comprises a computer laboratory, digital library and National Digital Literacy Mission Centre, aimed to provide high-quality digital educational resources to community members and underprivileged students, and accelerate digital literacy, said a company statement.
The centres will touch the lives of more than 20,000 children. Additionally, each centre is expected to train 1,000 community members from the surrounding areas to operate a computer or a digital access device and use the internet. Over 50,000 citizens from the age of 16 to 60 years are likely to benefit from this initiative.
"Since our inception 25 years ago, Cyient has been relentlessly committing a portion of our profits towards numerous social initiatives. And while the education of underprivileged children has been central to our social endeavour, we also strongly believe that digital literacy is a must for any child to take part in the digital economy and India's growth story," said Mohan Reddy.
