  • Offers 60+ tests, pulmonary rehab, nutrition support, and smoking cessation counselling.
  • Centre provides research opportunities and professional training for healthcare experts.

Cipla announced the launch of its first Breathefree Lung Wellness Center in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi, marking India’s first fully integrated facility dedicated to lung diagnostics and wellness. The centre aims to address a critical gap in the country’s respiratory care ecosystem by offering advanced, standardised lung diagnostics at an affordable price.

The launch comes amid India’s growing burden of chronic respiratory diseases, with an estimated 90 million people affected. Many patients remain undiagnosed or misdiagnosed due to limited access to specialised diagnostic infrastructure and high-quality pulmonary testing.

The new centre offers over 60 diagnostic tests, covering lung physiology, microbiology, immunology, blood chemistry, and radiology. Key tests include spirometry, oscillometry, DLCO, body plethysmography, FeNO, CPET, sleep studies, X-rays, and CT scans, all conducted by trained technicians following globally recognised protocols. In addition to diagnostics, the centre provides pulmonary rehabilitation, nutritional support, and smoking cessation counselling.

“This centre addresses a critical gap in the diagnostic landscape. By expanding our presence across the care continuum, we aim to make high-quality, standardised lung diagnostics accessible to doctors and patients across India”, said Achin Gupta, global COO, Cipla.

Jaideep Gogtay, Chief Medical Officer, added that early and accurate diagnosis is key to timely treatment and reducing hospitalisation. “This initiative strengthens the foundation of respiratory care at a time when the disease burden is only rising”, he said.

Beyond diagnostics, the centre will function as a training and certification hub for healthcare professionals and facilitate research in respiratory sciences.

Respiratory diseases such as asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung diseases are among India’s fastest-growing non-communicable conditions. Access to advanced diagnostics has been fragmented and mostly hospital-dependent.

The launch coincides with Cipla’s 90th anniversary year, signalling the company’s commitment to expanding beyond pharmaceuticals into diagnostics and patient-management services. The timing is significant, following Delhi’s recent severe air pollution, with AQI levels soaring above 500 in several areas, compounded by a cold wave trapping pollutants near the surface.

With the Breathefree Lung Wellness Center, Cipla hopes to improve early diagnosis, treatment, and overall respiratory health for patients across India.
