ChatGPT Go Launches Free Access in India, Unlocking GPT-5 for All
  • OpenAI makes ChatGPT Go free in India for a year
  • Offer celebrates its first DevDay Exchange in Bengaluru
  • Users get access to GPT-5, faster replies, and image features

OpenAI has announced that its premium ChatGPT Go plan will be free in India for one year starting November 4, 2025. The move coincides with the company’s first DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru and is part of a push to support the fast-growing Indian tech community.

The offer is open to all users in India who sign up during a limited-time window. Existing ChatGPT Go subscribers can also take advantage of the free access, with details on redemption to follow soon.

OpenAI said it chose India due to the rapid growth of its user base in the country. It highlighted the energy and creativity of Indian developers, students, and professionals, who are adopting AI tools faster than ever.

ChatGPT Go was introduced earlier this year as a mid-tier plan between the free version and ChatGPT Pro. It gives users access to OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model, faster response times, more message capacity, and the ability to generate images and upload files.

By waiving the subscription fee for a year, OpenAI is making advanced AI tools more accessible to India’s growing developer ecosystem. The move is also strategic, coming at a time when global competitors like Google, Anthropic, and Perplexity are strengthening their presence in the Indian market.

Users can expect ChatGPT Go to enhance productivity across coding, research, academic, and creative tasks, all at zero cost for the next 12 months. This initiative could spark wider AI adoption and further cement India as a key market for OpenAI’s future growth.
