The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has released the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) to develop a single and standardised digital identity for government ministries, departments, and organizations. The venture was released at the inaugural Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference 2025 under the Gov.In initiative.
The DBIM will improve user experience, accessibility, and hassle-free digital presence on government portals. Addressing the gathering, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Jitin Prasada stated that the initiative will reinforce the government's 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance' strategy by providing 'Uniform Governance' on digital platforms.
To facilitate this undertaking, the government has brought onboard a number of important tools. The DBIM Toolkit is provided to achieve digital branding uniformity, and the Gov.In CMS Platform will serve to assist ministries in effectively operating websites. On top of this, the Central Content Publishing System (CCPS) has come on board in order to coordinate content governance, as well as ensure consistency across official communication.
To facilitate standardised communication on all digital platforms, the government has also set up Social Media Campaign Guidelines for a uniform strategy towards online interaction.
MeitY website is already redesigned according to DBIM guidelines, and four other ministry sites have switched to Gov.In CMS platform, with several more to follow. By standardizing colour schemes, typography, and iconography, DBIM will make sure that there is a uniform digital identity for government websites, mobile apps, and social media handles.
The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of leveraging technology for governance and citizen services. By bringing uniformity and credibility to government digital platforms, DBIM is expected to enhance India’s global digital presence while making services more accessible to citizens.
