boAt Raises Local Manufacturing to 76 Percent as Domestic Strategy Gains Momentum
  • Local production rises from 40 Percent to 76 Percent in two years
  • Over 75 million units made in India by June 2025
  • Deep localisation cuts costs and boosts supply chain strength

boAt has sharply increased its domestic manufacturing footprint, taking local production to 75.83 Percent in Q1 FY26- up from 39.65 Percent in FY23. The company has now produced more than 75 million units in India as of June 2025, highlighting the strong progress of its India-first manufacturing strategy. In the April-June 2025 quarter alone, boAt manufactured 6.36 million units in India, compared with 4.42 million units during the same period last year.

A key driver of this shift is Califonix Tech and Manufacturing, boAt’s joint venture with Dixon Technologies. The JV now handles a major share of boAt’s Bluetooth-enabled audio production, contributing 37.46 Percent of total volumes in Q1 FY26. Califonix produced 13.44 million units in FY25 and continues to operate at steady capacity, improving quality control, process efficiency and supply assurance across product lines.

boAt is also pushing localisation beyond assembly by sourcing critical components like PCBs, batteries, plastics and straps from domestic suppliers. This move is expected to reduce duty costs by 15-20 Percent and shorten lead times. The company has already localised most PCB volumes, with more components currently undergoing trials.

Government programs such as 'Make in India', PMP for hearables and wearables, and PLI schemes are further supporting boAt’s expansion. As India’s electronics ecosystem grows, boAt’s flexible model, combining in-house control with contract manufacturing partners, continues to deliver cost efficiency, faster production cycles and stronger supply resilience.

The company is now preparing for the next phase of vertical integration through automation upgrades, advanced testing, and design-for-manufacturing improvements, reinforcing its position as one of India’s most integrated consumer tech brands.
