American Envoy Patricia Lacina Highlights the Impact of India’s Rich Cultural Heritage on the US

In an event organized by the US Embassy, American envoy Patricia Lacina highlighted that India’s rich cultural heritage profoundly impacts the US

United States Charge d-Affairs (CDA) Patricia Lacina stated that India's rich cultural heritage has a profound impact on the US and the world. She mentioned that this as the United States mission in India commemorated 20 years of cultural partnership with India through Ambassador's fund for cultural preservation.

Addressing the event, Patricia Lacina highlighted that the US is proud to have helped to preserve aspects of this heritage by investing more than two million USD in the past 20 years  for the documentation, conservation, and restoration of 23 important historic places and intangible heritage properties in India.

Lacina added that the US is a proud partner with India and will stay committed to joint efforts to protect, promote, and preserve cultural heritage. She also noted that they look forward to continuing their important work in the future. Ratish Nanda, CEO of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, underlined that cultural heritage preservation is much more economically valuable than what is believed. It brings tourism and empowers local communities with jobs, education, and autonomy.

The event was organized by the US Embassy in collaboration with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), and the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS), the AFCP 20th anniversary celebration. It was conducted at the outdoor amphitheater of the Sunder Nursery located near Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi.

The US Embassy mentioned in the press release that the Americans had invested two million USD over the past 20 years in the documentation, conservation, and restoration of several historic sites and intangible heritage in India with the help of the US Ambassadors Fund for cultural preservation. The restoration of monuments includes Sunderwala Burj, the Arab Serai complex Gateway, and the Batashewala Mughul tomb complex.
