After Xiaomi And Samsung, Micromax Is Developing Its Own OS


BENGALURU: According to ET report, Micromax is focusing on delivering better human interface, with intent of competing with Chinese brands, which have shown a considerable improvement in Indian markets recently.

Initially, Micromax, toppled the market and gave major blows to bagboys like Samsung and Sony, with its Canvas serious. Through which it offered all the high-end specification at budget price. Mircomax is now working on a new project, to launch its own OS. This development is followed by Xiaomi’s announcement on a related issue.

Micromax is developing a multipurpose OS, based on Google’s Android platform. The OS is expected to work on smartphones, TVs and other wearable like smart watch and smart band. This brisk announcement of Micromax was after the release of MIUI 7 OS by Xiaomi on 19th of this month.

According to Micromax Co-founder Vikas Jain, being a local producer is an advantage, so that it is easy to understand the needs of the customers. The company’s software developing wing in Bangalore is already working on the project, with designing team consisting of 75 individuals. The current engineers were hired from the Nokia’s R&d department in Beijing. Jain said “The first smartphones with the new OS will be available by the end of this financial year and they will be affordably priced.”

Micromax shares the second biggest part in total Smartphone sales in the country, since it holds 18 percent in overall sales. Micromax brand has been very popular among all youngsters in the country and has seen a radical improvement in its sale this year. Recently launched yureka and yuphoria models have also influenced in increasing sales.
