Adani Explores Major $5 Billion Investment in Googles India-Based AI Data Center
  • Adani Group may invest up to $5B in Google’s new AI data center.
  • Google plans to spend $15B over five years on its Andhra Pradesh facility.
  • Rising AI demand is driving massive investments in high-capacity data centers.

India’s Adani Group is exploring an investment of up to $5 billion in Google’s upcoming AI data center project, aiming to tap the country’s fast-growing demand for advanced computing and data infrastructure. The move comes as tech giants worldwide race to expand capacity for artificial intelligence, which requires huge clusters of high-performance chips.

Google announced in October that it would invest $15 billion over the next five years to build a large-scale AI data center in Andhra Pradesh, marking its biggest commitment to India so far. The facility, located in Visakhapatnam, will start with 1 gigawatt of power capacity, reflecting the massive scale needed to support next-generation AI operations.

According to Adani Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh, the Google partnership could translate into a major investment opportunity for Adani Connex, the company’s joint venture with EdgeConneX. He noted that several global players are interested in working with Adani as India’s data center market expands toward gigawatt-scale facilities.

Google is already set to spend about $85 billion this year alone to strengthen its global data center footprint, underlining the intense infrastructure push driven by AI adoption across industries. Indian business leaders Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani have also accelerated their investments in data center capacity, signaling a broader shift toward making India a major AI infrastructure hub.

As demand for high-density computing continues to surge, the Adani-Google collaboration could play a significant role in shaping the country’s digital and AI ecosystem.
