Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has secured the Khavda Phase-IV Part-A transmission project, reinforcing its status as the leading private sector transmission firm in India. The 298-kilometer project, costing Rs 4,091 crore, is designed to transport 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda Renewable Energy (RE) park to the national grid.
Acquired through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, AESL will complete the project within 24 months and oversee its maintenance for the next 35 years.
Kandarp Patel, CEO of AESL, emphasized the significance of this project: “Khavda, the largest renewable energy park globally, needs advanced and durable infrastructure for efficient power evacuation. This development will establish essential transmission networks and enhance grid stability for the park’s planned 30 GW green energy output”.
AESL’s acquisition of Khavda IVA Power Transmission Ltd, an SPV established by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) for managing the 7 GW renewable energy flow, further strengthens its role in India's energy sector. The company has received a letter of intent (LOI) from RECPDCL, affirming its leading position.
Following this acquisition, AESL will manage 21,783 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 61,686 MVA of transformation capacity. The Khavda RE park, aiming for a 30 GW generation capacity, is expected to significantly contribute to India’s decarbonization goals.
The Adani Group’s development of Khavda from an unproductive area into a crucial part of India’s net zero strategy highlights its commitment to revolutionizing the country's energy sector.
