A country’s global posture is generally undermined when it is in a state of conflict with its neighbors. India is one such country which is known for its conflicts with neighboring nations. The country has had age old issues while cooperating with bordering nations like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka with whom it shares either land or maritime borders. Bangladesh and India belong to the same Indian Subcontinent and have a long common history of conflicts, culture and political issues. The relation with Bangladesh has indeed been bitter for India from the time of the war between the two nations in 1971. The two countries have had issues over land and nautical boundaries and also on water distribution.
