Salute the Bravery: 7 Real Heroes of Pathankot Attacks

BENGALURU: While the world embraces the New Year with the hope of good and betterment, Pathankot witnessed one of the worst bloodsheds of the decade. Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists attacked the region on the 2^nd of January and presently follow a state of major massacre.

While government acts in a ‘wait and watch’ mode, seven jawans have lost their life. They were brutally killed by terrorists.

Here is a tribute to these National Heroes who sacrificed their lives for Mother India right at the beginning of 2016, reports Catchnews.

Corporal Gursewak Singh

Gursewak, the Garud commando reported to Pathankot on the very first day of the attack from Adampur, where he was posted. He joined the army six years back after completing his BA. Married in November the young man was also in plan for a long off to celebrate his wife’s birthday in February. Gursewak’s elder brother Hardeep Singh is also a part of the Indian Army and is presently posted in Dharamashala.

Captain Fateh Singh

 Ex-Indian rifle shooter Subedar-major (Retd.) Fateh Singh breathed last atPathakot on January3. Raninder Singh, NRAI president said, “The country has lost its beloved son and a sharp shooter. May almighty grant peace to the great soldier.” Singh is survived with son Gurdeep, daughter Madhu Radha and wife Shobha Rani. Singh. He was cremated at his native Jhanda Gujjaran village with military and civil honours.

Lt Col Niranjan Kumar

The Bengaluru resident was killed at Pathankot when he tried to defuse a grenade as it went off. He was a native of the Elambassery village in Palakkad district, Kerala. He is survived with father EK Sivaranjan, a retired BEML employee, wife Dr KG Radhika and a two year old daughter. His body was kept at north Bengaluru’s BEL ground to let people pay their last respect and homage for the young martyr.

Hawaldar Jagdish Chand

The first militant who led life in the Pathankot mess Hawaldar. He was a cook and was preparing breakfast for the camp when the militants attacked. His bravery definitely deserves a salute as this shows that other than army and navy, even common military officers contribute for the welfare of mother India. Hawaldar originates from Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh and is survived by his wife, daughters and a son.

Hawaldar Kulwant Singh

  He joined the army at a young age of 19 and retired in 2004. Kulwant Singh was posted at Pathankot from Odisha. Hailing from Gurdaspur, he is survived with a wife and two sons who are still school students. The family confirms that Kulwant was a patriot and even wrote patriotic songs.

Hawaldar Sanjeev Singh Rana

An integral part of the DSC, Rana sacrificed his life by taking five bullets in the chest. Rana hails from a poor army family and is survived with two daughters, a son and a wife.

Lance Naik Phoolwant Singh

Phoolwant fought bravely in the battle and fired till he could and later he was shifted to the hospital when severely injured. Medical professionals could not survive him and Singh led life for the nation. .
