Kerala, Now the Land Of Crime and Controversies

Bangalore:  Kerala, God’s Own Country is known for its exotic tourist destinations with various exciting attractions and also is one of the most advanced states in India with hundred percent literacy rate. Ironically, this most educated and peaceful state is today in the news for all the wrong reasons. It now moves along with the tagline as the state with the highest crime rate in India, leading ahead of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. It has recorded a crime rate of 424.1 which is more than double the country’s average of 187.6.

Crime is often believed to be committed as a means of getting rich instantly or to avenge the enemies by few unemployed youths or men but now this notion seems inapplicable in Kerala, as most of the crime and murders are committed by the high profile people like business tycoons, politicians and the women, reported M G Radhakrishnan for India Today.

The values of the society in ‘God’s own country’ are fast deteriorating since most of the elected political leaders who are the face of the state are linked with many illegal acts/crimes directly or indirectly. The leaders have been caught to involve in sexual misbehaviors like the MMS clip of an opposition leader in a compromising position or the Congress (B) leader who gave up his chair after his wife accused him of domestic violence and having an extramarital affair. Such appalling incidents ultimately plague their own parties and embarrassed them.
