dgdfgBANGALORE: In a country like India where rapes are daily scenarios where moral police and society put restrictions to every woman’s dream, where women still fight for gender equality and fundamental rights, there are some women who consider themselves as birds and wish to fly in the sky without any regulations. The recruitment record of Indian airlines is the proof for the high probability of you flying with a female pilot next time, reports economic times.

In India there are 5,100 pilots in whom 11.7 percent are women and in the world around 1, 30,000 pilots and 3 percent are women according to the international society of women airline pilots. Harpreet Singh Dey, the first female pilot to operate an international flight by a local carrier, Air India, in 1988, who is the current president of Indian women pilot association said that "this is definitely one trend which flies in the face of global opinion of India as a regressive place for women,"

The flying schools in the country are seeing an increase in the number of Women admissions every year. The families are also willing to allow their princesses to live their dream. Of the 1,100 pilot licenses issued in India in 2014, about 170 were to women, an increase of 5 per cent from the year earlier.
The airlines companies are also focusing on recruiting women since they think that women employees play a key role in creating a competitive edge for the business.
