Iceland Retains Top Position for the World Most Peaceful Countries

BENGALURU: The victory for Iceland continued to this year as well; it hangs on the top of the list for “the world’s most peaceful country”. However, the overall prospect for the world’s peace lies in dismay.

Imagine the feel of freedom and satisfaction to the point when you get to live in those most peaceful countries of the world. Amazing, isn’t it! The Institute of Economics produces a report for GPI (Global Peace Index) score, every year, listing all the countries and territories in the world on the basis of 22 indicators or factors that are considerable to measure peace. The points of perception include crime, terrorism, safety, political security, and others from trusted sources such as The World Bank and some of the UN agencies.

With a little surprise, this is for the sixth consecutive year that Iceland has been able to score the lowest at GPI ratings.

Below are the top 10 most peaceful countries as per GPI score:

With six of the top seven countries, Europe remains the most peaceful continent.

According to the GPI report, North America, South America, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific region were followed by consistent results in comparison to their ranking in 2015.
