H1-B Visa Survey: Exploring the Reality of the American Dream

BANGALORE: With every year passing by, more and more people across the globe want to make it to U.S. and achieve their American Dream. And, this dream is like a hot stew for Indians. U.S. is the ultimate destination for many young achievers in India, the reasons being its lifestyle, the salaries, the work-culture,  the latest technologies and a slew of other reasons  have allured many Indians  to emerge as one of the largest ‘diasporas’ with thousands of expatriate Indians moving in here.

The dream sets off for the aspirants once the piece of paper gets affixed on their passports. Yes, we are talking about the H1-B visa, the popular work permit for U.S. and an opportunity to be an American. However, this visa process is sure not a cakewalk. Over the years, the H1-B visa process has turned to tougher adjudication standards and the elements of the same have become even more critical. With this the access of Indian professionals in the U.S. workspace is also at stake.

Off-late, this issue caused a stir when U.S. passed a bill on immigration with curbs. The recent hike in the petition fee by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service for the H1-B visa has directly targeted the Indian IT firms. This was unjustifiable move as per the Indian IT firms.

Once the immigrants make their way to the work culture in U.S., they face more of a cultural shock and come across elements that influence their earnings. As per a recent survey being conducted by researchers at the University of California focuses on how professional achievements vary by gender, ethnicity/race and immigrant status. We encourage participating in this survey thereby making a valuable contribution to the research. Following is the link to the same. Your opinion counts.
