Pune-based niche procurement Analytics Company, Dataction Analytics and TUI, one of the largest leisure, travel and tourism companies in the world won the coveted ‘Innovation of the Year’ at the Global Sourcing Awards 2018. Global Sourcing Association (GSA) announced the winners of the first Global Sourcing Awards at the Cape Town International Convention Centre in South Africa. It uses a new combination of accessible low cost cloud technologies, Pune based analyst resources for manual classification, and creative proprietary processes to deliver enhanced spend data against TUI’s overheads budgets.

Paul Harlington, Procurement Director, TUI Group, says, “The first phase of the solution was successfully delivered by a multi-national team in just four months, covering over 70 percent of TUI’s indirect spend. This enables management reporting and opportunity analysis in areas such as IT and Marketing. The aim is to have the platform covering over 90 percent of TUI’s indirect spend”.

The GSA Awards identify organisations that constantly provide results in the outsourcing industry, despite the unprecedented disruption at a global level. Dataction and TUI competed in the category and emerged as the winner by ideating to co-develop a unique and pioneering spend visibility solution. Dataction adopted a bold and agile approach which a larger company might struggle to think of – the solution comprised of a new combination of technology, adopting cloud hosting early in TUI, and a service model which is truly creative.

Speaking on the success, Saurabh Limaye, CEO, Dataction Analytics, says, “TUI has always been Dataction’s most open minded and collaborative customer. However, the joint delivery of a unique spend solution has taken this collaboration to the next level - a perfect example demonstrating how out of the box thinking and trusting a supplier as an extended arm of your own team can deliver amazing results. This is by far the most exciting and enriching innovation project that I have been involved in”.

Established in 2010, Dataction is a dynamic analytical solutions company with a proven expertise in procurement analytics, testing and support & data analytics. It delivers pragmatic and affordable services based on its in-depth knowledge of industry trends and leveraging the experience of managing similar assignments. Dataction’s clients achieve their business objective through enhanced efficiency, credibility and optimized costs.

Domiciled in Germany, TUI Group is one of India’s leading groups operating around 180 destinations. The group employs 67,000 people in more than 100 countries and offers more than 20 million customers’ comprehensive services from a single source. It also includes leading international tour operator brands, 1,600 travel agencies in Europe and five Furopean tour operator airlines.
