Delhi Bags Dishonorable Tag of "Crime Capital"

Bangalore: Delhi, the capital city of India has today bagged the dishonorable tag of “Crime Capital”, based on the report given by The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for 2012, reported by Dwaipayan Ghosh for TOI.

Delhi, despite the fact that it has become much better in curbing street crime than a year before, only strong policing will bring down the crime rate in the city. The Capital city will take quite some time to get away with this shameful tag.

According to the NCRB data, among 88 cities, Delhi has come across with a massive number of 408 murders last year, whereas there were only 215 murders in Mumbai, 180 in Chennai and 85 in Kolkata. On the other hand, the Delhi police states that the street crime rate has gone down with just 13 dacoity and 522 robberies recorded whereas Mumbai registered 29 dacoity and 1131 robbery cases.

There were 369 cases of attempt to murder in the city which is again higher than 170 recorded in Mumbai and 154 in Kolkata.

Certain crimes like kidnapping and abduction cases are 10 times much more in Delhi than other cities of India.
