Actor Salman Khan Convicted In in All 8 Charges in 2002 Hit-and-Run Case


BANGALORE: Salman Khan was found guilty on Wednesday in the 2002 hit-and-run case by a Sessions Court here.

Delivering the verdict, Additional Sessions Judge D.W. Deshpande said: "You were driving the car," adding Salman was under the influence of alcohol and behind the wheels without a licence. He said all charges stood proven.

On September 28, 2002, Salman's Toyota Land Cruiser rammed into a roadside bakery in Bandra West, close to his seafront home in Galaxy Apartments, leaving four people sleeping outside injured. One of them died later.

The trial in the case has seen many twists and turns, anf the decision today can make or mar the career of the actor on whom ride investments of over Rs 200 crore.

A tight security blanket was thrown around the court where sessions judge D W Deshpande will pronounce the judgement. Only lawyers, media personnel and court staff were allowed to be present.
