9 Nations That Spend Most On Defence




France:

France is one of the significant spenders on defense in the world. With $61.2 billion defense budget, military spending had been increased significantly since 2002. Most of the increase in the military budget is mainly to reinforce the French military's capacity to fight terrorism.

France's military is also undergoing a major restructuring towards a smaller, modernized, and all-professional force that will be both deployable and interoperable with the superpower nations and allied militaries.

United Kingdom:

The country with the fifth largest defense budget in the world, United Kingdom,  spends about $57.9 billion on its armed forces that is 2.5 percent of its GDP.  As of 2013, the value for Military expenditure in this nation is $59.8 billion.

The British Armed Force stood for protecting the United Kingdom, its overseas territories and Crown Dependencies, as well as for promoting Britain's wider security interests, and to support international peacekeeping efforts.

Germany:

Europe’s biggest economy, Germany is one such country where defense spending is increased to counter future threats by Russia.

As of 2013, it is reported that the country spent over $48.8 billion on its military, which is 1.4 percent of the country’s GDP.

The German Army founded in 1955 as part of the newly formed West German Bundeswehr along with the Marine (Navy) and the Luftwaffe (Air Force), today has a strength of 62,279 soldiers. It is commanded by the Inspector of the Army based at the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin and Bonn.
