4. Tea Bricks:

Used in the timeframe of 19th century to 1935, the Tea Bricks were used as a form of currency throughout China, Tibet, Mongolia, and Central Asia. These bricks were produced in five different qualities and valued accordingly.  In fact, Tea bricks were most preferred form of currency over metallic coins for the nomads of Mongolia and Siberia.

5. Parmigiano-Reggiano:

This hard, granular Parmesan cheese is used in Northern Italy as a medium of commerce. The well-known Parmesan is so valuable that quite a number of banks agree to to keep the cheese as collateral against loans to local producers.
