8 Most Polluted Cities Around The World


BENGALURU: In the race of rampage urbanization, we have disregarded the fundamental platform that the nature has provided us for our essential living. Yes! it is mother earth which has been a victim of our carvings of modernization. Hence most of the super cities around the world might be regarded as the infrastructure heavens but they lack in clean air, water and a hearty atmosphere. Hence here go the list of cities and their pollution, as reported by the Indiatimes.

Los Angeles:

Los Angeles, the city of the dreams: the city earned this title, since it houses the Hollywood, but the city tops in the list with its increasing pollution, in and around its jurisdiction. Hence the residents of the city experience 117.7 days of high ozone levels each year and average year-round particle pollution: 15.1 ug/M3.          

Cape Town:

Cape Town, the business capital of South Africa and hosts some of the huge international tourist attractions.  But for past few decades, the city has been vulnerable to the pollution that is causing ailments among residents. Due to poor quality of air, citizens here suffer from deadly asthma and neutralizing small airborne particles has been the biggest challenge to pollution control board of the city.

Tokyo:

Tokyo, the city that never sleeps is under an intense pressure to bring down the air pollution in the city and is critically concerned about the central part of the region. The measurements for particles are smaller than 2.5 micrograms in diameter, were at 98 micrograms per cubic meter in the city as per the data on Tokyo’s monitoring website, which is more than three times of the World Health Organization’s recommended levels.

Kuala Lumpur:

Kuala Lumpur, which has been one among top business destinations in Asia, is not free from air pollution either. Haze that flows to the city from the Indonesia is a solemn problem of air pollution to the city.

Barcelona:

Since Spain is one among the most polluted countries, the cosmopolitan capital of the country Barcelona is also one among the most polluted cities in the continent. The level of co2 in the city is doubled since 1990 and road transport is reported to be the major reason behind co2 emission.

New Delhi:

New Delhi, the sixth most polluted metro Politian city in the world is the most polluted city in India, since the city is recorded with highest particulate matter pollution. Relatively the air pollution in the city is mostly caused by the industries that are situated around the city and the motor vehicles. Further reports also claim that the pollution has drastically come down after the introduction of Metro rail transportation in the city.

New York City:

The global business and the financial capital the New York City, is under serious threat of air pollution. According to the recent surveys, the residents of the Manhattan neighborhood have the third highest cancer risk caused by airborne chemicals and 6 percent of annual death is estimated to be caused by air pollution.

Shanghai:

Shanghai, the biggest city in Asia and the finical capital of the china, experienced its worst ever air pollution in 2013.  Relatively, the poisonous gas replaced PM2.5 pollution particles tiny enough to enter the lungs and ozone level was also recorded 246 micrograms per cubic meter. This issue has endangered the lives of the mighty city, needs an immediate attention of the government.
