8 Infamous Sexist Remarks Made by Indian Politicians


Bangalore: Most of the Indian politician’s tenure is often gone in being a watch dog of their counterparts or making infamous remarks rather than investing their time in the country’s welfare and development. Sometimes their remarks turn out to be outrageous and ‘sexist’. One such statement was made recently by Digvijaya Singh, Congress general secretary who described Meenakshi Natrajan, party MP from Mandsaur, as "sau tunch maal", a northern colloquial remark that loosely means "a desirable object.”

“50 Crore Girlfriend” By Narendra Modi:

Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP Prime Ministerial Candidate, Narendra Modi is always in the limelight for his iniquitous remarks that often arouses debate among the people. One such remark was towards Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of Shashi Tharoor (who was then his girlfriend) during an election rally in 2009: "Wah kya girlfriend hai. Apne kabhi dekha hai 50 crore ka girlfriend?" (What a girlfriend. Have you ever seen a 50-crore-girl friend?).” This remark was referred to Tharoor who was actively negotiating for the Kochi IPL team where the union minister allegedly asked for 10 percent for Pushkar while the deal was finally settled at 5 percent.
