Maplecroft’s Climate Change Vulnerability Index has assessed the climatic state of 50 cities worldwide, selected for their importance in the global business market at present and in the future. The study focuses on the cities facing the risk involved in climate change. 3 Indian cities are on the list.

Here are top 8 cities classified as ‘extreme risk’ on the list of Climate Change Vulnerability Index meter.

Dhaka
Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital is the most vulnerable city which experiences extreme climate change and is ranked number one on the list.

The long term variations in rainfall patterns and temperature could carry a devastating effect on ecosystems; industrial processes; human health; supply chains and infrastructure of a city. The report also said “The vulnerability of cities in the growth economy withdraw not only from their exposure to climate related risk, but also the sensitivity of their populations and the poor capacity of governments to support local adaptation measures to combat the potential effects of climate change,” as reported by maplecroft.com.
