The gang rape of the 23 year physiotherapy student in Delhi caused a dismay in the capital which has spread across the country. Her death has not repressed the protest in the country and now it is a mark tribute paid to her.
The incident occurred when the victim along with a male companion boarded a bus in South Delhi, which was later learned to be a stolen bus. The driver, who stole the bus along with his five friends assaulted the women and her companion and then raped her. The women encountered severe brutality by these six men. She died while under medical care fighting for her life in the Singapore Hospital. The incident has stirred a social derange which has become a protest questioning the safety of women in India. The protest that took place at India gate and other places in Delhi turned violent, leading to a death of a policeman. The capital and the country are demanding more crucial and stern punishment for the accused from the government. Her tragic end has awakened many in the county demanding a safer country for girls and extreme punishment for the offenders.
