Bangalore: India is a country with over 1.2 billion populace and hails the diversities it exhibits. India in 2012 has had many social and political events that sparked and sprinkled over the country. Some took the country by storm, others created a predominant fear and then there are those which questioned the nation’s integrity. Here are the five social and political incidents that have created waves in the country in 2012.

Gujarat Elections
Narendra Modi is the political successor who has won the state election for the third consecutive time, turning it into a hat-trick win by winning the 2012 Gujarat elections. In the 2012 election BJP secured majority against congress. Narendra Modi triumphed in the constituency with a margin of 86,373 votes against the contender Shweta Bhatt from the Indian National Congress. BJP in Gujarat led by Modi witnessed a resonant victory with 115 seats in the 182 member assembly election. Modi was covered widely for his campaign for the elections this year and the win is just an insignia of his spectacular work in Gujarat during his last tenure.
