Thihar Jail:

Thihar Jail in Delhi is the largest complex prison in South Asia. The prison can accommodate up to 14000 inmates. Under the retired IPS official Kiran Bedi, the prison was a popular rehabilitation center which helped prisoners in pursuing their higher education. Subsequently in-campus placements were also introduced in which 66 inmates were selected. But in recent times the jail has been alleged for frequent sexual abuses and rampant physical harassments on the new inmates by the some of the gangs in there.

Yeravada Jail:

The Yeravada Jail in Pune is the largest jail in Maharashtra; Yerwada Jail occupies 512 acres and can accommodate more than 3000 prisoners. The jail has been in limelight for few years for housing Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and Ajmal Amir Kasab the convict of 26/11 Mumbai attack, who was hung to death here. The 2008 screening showed that the jail had the highest number of HIV positive prisoners and maximum number of dug abuses among the inmates.
