20 Indian States with Highest Electricity


Bangalore: Electricity is something that many of us especially in metropolitan cities take for granted. But the reality of India is that there are plenty of places that get electricity only for few hours and there are even places that have no electricity at all.

At the moment India is going to energy crisis of sorts. In the world 1.4 billion people do not have access to electricity out of this 1.4 billion 300 million are from India.

It’s time to look at the 20 states and union territories which have the highest coverage of electricity in all their districts.

1. Lakshadweep

Population: 60,595

Percentage of houses using electricity: 99.7%

The smallest union territory in India comes in at the number one spot with 99.7 per cent houses that use electricity. Lakshadweep is an archipelago consisting of 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks. The people in the land of beautiful beaches speak mainly in Malayalam.  

2. Delhi

Capital of India

Population: 11,007,835

Percentage of houses having electricity in 2011: 99.1%

The national capital Delhi and Dilli as some people fondly call it comes in at the second spot with 99.3 percent of electrified houses.

Apart from being the capital of India Delhi is famous of the historical monuments and the every street which has some or the other historical story about. To quote the travel author William Dalrymple Delhi is the “City of Djinns”.
