10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations to be converted into CSCs
The Common Services Centers Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC SPV) and the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at converting Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) registered under the 'Formation & Promotion of 10,000 FPOs scheme' into CSCs (Common Services Centers). This initiative seeks to facilitate the delivery of citizen-centric services to farmers.
Under the terms of the MoU, 10,000 FPOs will be transformed into CSCs, leveraging the Digital Seva Portal to provide a range of services. CSC SPV will facilitate the integration of FPOs into the CSC network and support their capacity building through training initiatives.
Sanjay Rakesh, MD-CEO of CSC SPV, expressed optimism about the impact of this collaboration, stating, "With this initiative, more farmers who are associated with FPOs will be able to avail the benefits of CSC services. This will enable FPOs to provide citizens with all the services that are available on CSC Scheme's Digital Seva Portal".
The Central Sector Scheme for 'Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs' was launched by the government in 2020 with the objective of empowering farmers, enhancing their bargaining power, and increasing their incomes through aggregation of agricultural produce. By integrating CSC services into FPOs, the initiative aims to further these objectives and boost employment opportunities in rural areas.
Moreover, the collaboration will enable FPOs to serve as nodal centers for delivering various services, including Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS), Crop Insurance Scheme (PMFBY), and distribution of fertilizers and seed inputs.
This strategic partnership between CSC SPV and the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare underscores the government's commitment to leveraging technology and digital platforms to enhance service delivery and empower farmers across the country.
