Railways have finally sought the route in to Arunachal Pradesh, as for the first time in history a train tramped the railway tracks and finally took a halt in Naharlagun.
Before this only a 1.26 km railway line from Harmuti - Naharlagun (Itanagar) broad gauge section used to be the only one inside its border. The line from Harmuti passes 6 kms in Lakhimpur district of Assam before entering lower Subansiri and runs along the left bank of river Dikong for about 7 km up to Doimukh before crossing the river.
