There are cities that are important to high net worth individuals (HNWIs) based on investment potential and economic openness to their appeal as somewhere to live or simply visit. A study by Knight Frank lists out the 10 global cities that are growing in importance to HNWIs.

Beijing:

The global city that HNWIs prefer the most is Beijing. Beijing is the centre of power. The city ranks high in terms of political power and fares well in terms of economic activity as well. Beijing is also said to become one of the leading cities in the coming years. In terms of “global appeal” the survey placed Beijing in the 5th position. The people there are now enjoying the highest quality of life in China. The city is preferred by HNWIs as it has a thriving economy, a growing middle class, and infrastructure improvements. A great international community resides in Beijing, and many are attracted by the highly growing foreign business and trade sector, others by the traditional and modern culture of the city.

Shanghai:

Shanghai takes the second spot on the list.  The city is the principal national industrial and financial centre. It’s preferred by HNWIs as it’s growing as a cultural hub and global tourist destination. It is a global city, with influence in commerce, finance, culture, media, fashion, technology, and transport. It also has the busiest container port in the world.
