10 Most Influential Indian Tweeters


Bangalore: Over the past few years, social media has grown significantly in our country. Though Facebook is more popular among internet users in India with 45 million users, Twitter has approximately 5 million users. Twitter is noted to be essentially a popular medium for a certain section of upwardly mobile Indians and the elite. The new study by Burson-Marsteller and klout.com revealed the most influential Indian tweeters and has thrown up an interesting mix of politicians, journalists, businessmen and civil society activists.

The list is part of a research study "G-20 Influencers" that named the 200 most influential political voices on social media, primarily Twitter, across 26 countries, including G-20 nations.

Anand Mahindra:

Anand Mahindra has emerged as one of the most "influential" voices on Twitter in India.  As the Vice-Chairman and MD of Mahindra & Mahindra, one of India's largest diversified conglomerates he enjoys credibility in the industry and is amongst decision makers. On an average he tweets or re-tweets four-five times a day, from anywhere in the world.

 

Digvijaya Singh:

Digvijaya Singh is also one among the politically influential people on Twitter. He is one of the oldest and most influential leaders of the party in power in the country, the Indian National Congress Party.

He has been the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh state twice for five-year terms and is currently the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee.
