Knight Frank in its ‘Wealth Report 2013’ has listed the global cities that matter the most to the rich (defined as people with $30 million or more in net assets). The cities are ranked based on four criteria - economic activity, political power, quality of life and knowledge and influence. Here are the top 10 cities that matter the most to the rich.

New York City, United States:
It’s no surprise that New York takes the number one spot on the list of global cities that matter most to High Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs). New York is one among the cities which have been able to withstand economic headwinds and can boast of its additional lifestyle benefits, as per the report. It is still one of the most influential cities for HNWIs according to the Global Cities Survey. Its ranking on the four parameters of economic activity, political power, quality of life, and knowledge and influence is 1, 7, 6 and 2 respectively.

London, United Kingdom:
London takes the second place on the list as it is one of the most influential cities for HNWIs. It ranks second in economic activity and fifth in political power. In the category of quality of life it takes the eighth position and it ranks first for knowledge and influence. London is known to be a global leader in education with one of the largest concentration of universities and higher education institutions in the world. It is Europe’s leading financial centre.
