Shakti Kapoor entered Bollywood in the early 70s but, got his recognition only in the 80s after a long time struggle he was spotted by Sunil Dutt while launching his son Sanjay Dutt in Rocky. Thus, Shakti landed as a villain in Rocky. His portrayal as RD brought him a great appreciation and made him one of the popular antagonist in Bollywood. Later, he shared screen space with Amrish Puri in Firoz Khan's Qurbani made him popular. 

In the later part of his career, Shakti has reprised many comical yet villainous roles that drew a different angle for the antagonist, such a Jimmy in the movie Hero. Later, he transitioned his roles from being completely negative to comic ones and one such film is Chaalbaaz comedy scenes with Sridevi is truly a treat for the audience. Shakti's other notable movies are Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, Meri Adaalat, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, and Andaz Apna Apna His famous dialogue from Qurbani, "Abhi Hamari ek mulaqat aur hogi... aur woh tumhare liye aakhri hogi."
