PVR INOX Lowers Ticket Prices to Rs 95 After GST Cut

PVR INOX Lowers Ticket Prices to Rs 95 After GST Cut
  • PVR INOX lowers Blockbuster Tuesday tickets to Rs 95, passing GST benefits to customers.
  • GST on movie tickets priced Rs 100 or less dropped from 12% to 5%, making cinema more affordable.
  • Price cut aligns with festive season and strong movie releases to boost footfalls.

PVR INOX has reduced its Blockbuster Tuesday movie ticket price to Rs 95, including GST, starting September 23. This new price reflects the recent government GST cut on movie tickets priced at Rs 100 or less, which was lowered from 12% to 5%. As a result, the base price dropped to Rs 92, with 5% GST bringing the total ticket cost to Rs 95. Previously, these tickets were priced at Rs 99.

This price reduction comes at a time when PVR INOX is actively encouraging more moviegoers to return to theaters. Despite the popularity of multiplexes, footfalls remain 15-20% below pre-COVID levels. To address this, PVR INOX has been running promotional days like Cinema Lover’s Day and Senior’s Day, which have helped revive regular movie watching habits, according to the company’s FY25 annual report.

The timing is also strategic as the Navratri festival begins, a period known for increased entertainment spending. The cinema chain hopes the lower prices, coupled with a strong slate of new movies, will attract larger audiences. Current hits include Bollywood’s Jolly LLB 3, the anime feature Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle, and the Telugu film Mirai. Upcoming films like One Battle After Another and They Call Him OG are expected to draw more viewers.
