Actress Dia Mirza recently shared an emotional tribute to her mother, highlighting the profound influence she has had on her life as a source of strength and inspiration. Posting on Instagram, Dia reflected on the concept of Shakti the divine feminine energy and credited her mother for embodying its essence through compassion, resilience, and quiet courage.
In her heartfelt message, Dia wrote, “Last night, as I stood on that stage, I thought of my mother @deepamirza. She was my first understanding of Shakti not just as strength, but as compassion, resilience, grace, and the quiet courage to rise again and again”. She further described Shakti as the sustaining and transformative energy present in every woman who dares to dream, nurtures life, and walks forward despite uncertainty.
The actress was honored with the prestigious Shakti Award 2025, presented by Shashi Tharoor, in a ceremony attended by prominent women from the industry such as Shabana Azmi, Ekta Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Surveen Chawla, and Poornima Devi Burman. Dia expressed how the award is a collective recognition of every woman who lives her truth and uplifts others. “This award is not just mine. It belongs to every woman who lives her truth, who lifts another up, and who carries within her the boundless force of Shakti”, she said.
On the professional front, Dia Mirza recently appeared in the Netflix film Nadaaniyan, directed by Shauna Gautam. The movie, released on March 7, 2025, features a fresh cast including Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, along with veteran actors Mahima Chaudhry, Suniel Shetty, and Jugal Hansraj. Dia plays the role of Nandini, mother to Ibrahim’s character Arjun.
