For the first time in its history, Sunburn Festival, one of Asia’s biggest electronic dance music (EDM) festivals, will host its 2025 edition in Mumbai. The three-day music extravaganza will take place on December 19, 20, and 21, marking a major shift from its traditional venue in Goa to India’s bustling entertainment capital.
Backed by the Government of Maharashtra, this strategic move is set to boost the state’s cultural economy and music tourism. “Maharashtra has always been at the forefront of shaping India’s cultural and entertainment economy. Bringing landmark experiences like Sunburn to Mumbai helps us create a robust music tourism ecosystem”, said Atul Patne, Principal Secretary of Tourism, Maharashtra.
The 2025 edition has already gained global recognition, securing the #8 spot on DJ Mag’s prestigious ‘Top 100 Festivals of 2025’ list.
Karan Singh, CEO of Sunburn, expressed excitement about the festival’s Mumbai debut. “Nearly two decades ago, we started with a vision to create a world-class EDM experience in India. Goa has been integral to that journey, but evolving the legacy means moving forward. Mumbai’s creative pulse and connection to youth culture make it the perfect next step”, he said.
With support from the state, the festival hopes to position Mumbai as India’s next festival capital, further solidifying the city’s role in the global music landscape.
RuPay presents Tuborg Sunburn Festival 2025, driven by Hyundai, and in association with Redbull and ITC, promises a high-energy lineup. Since its inception in 2007, Sunburn has hosted global EDM icons like Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, The Chainsmokers, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, and Hardwell, becoming a staple for electronic music lovers across the world.
This year’s edition in Mumbai is expected to attract massive crowds and global attention, cementing Sunburn’s reputation as a cultural phenomenon in the world of music festivals.
