We are right in the middle of yet another monsoon; hence it might not be a bad idea to stay in and watch some of the characters that made Hollywood's screenplay what it is today. With the perfect depiction of stylized, realistic, and method acting, these characters can mold you by melting deep down your heart, make you stick to the chair for hours, and even leave eternal impressions. These are the characters that set the rules of the screenplay, which led to new benchmarks of filmmaking, and eventually changed the definition of movies itself.

Following is an index of six screenplays that will make you see beyond the screen and change the way you watch movies.

1.Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade - Scent of a Woman (1992)

Cast: Al Pacino

Rewind through the blind characters you have ever watched on screen. You would probably get an image of agony, insignificance, and dependency. Retired Colonel Frank Slade of 'Scent of a Woman' lives the other way. Seemingly an annoying character at the beginning of the movie, Frank slowly, but strongly unfolds some of the amazing moments in the history of method acting with his dominant and ascendant attitude carried away from his soldierly days. In the movies' climax, his speech in 'Baird School' about integrity and choosing the right paths in life is written in golden words in the history of cinema dialogues. The speech not only changes the Director Board?s perception about education but also gives a new color to our educational concepts.

Al Pacino resets the method acting benchmarks with his screen presence, intrinsic mannerisms, and the firm dialogue delivery. Having bestowed another riveting drama to the golden-90s of Hollywood, the legendary actor went on to win the 'Best Actor Award' in the 65th Academy Awards (1993).

2. Forrest Gump - Forrest Gump (1994)

Cast: Tom Hanks

“Run, Forrest, Run!” is one of most famous movie dialogues in the history of cinema. Just like in the movie, Forrest ran, ran, and ran through the hearts of a million movie lovers. One of the role-plays that depict the matchless ‘behaving’ skills of Tom Hanks, Forrest is a miraculously kind and gentle person who is also what some people might call ‘mildly retarded’. But with the way which Forrest takes us through - being a war hero and incepting a world famous company, we would think twice to call him retarded.

In 1994, Forrest Gump brought Tom the consecutive Academy Award (after Philadelphia in 1994) against a bunch of evergreen Hollywood screenplays including The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, and In the Name of the Father.
