'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' Surpasses 300 Crore Mark In India


MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's Indo-Pak drama "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has zoomed past the 300 crore mark at the box office, becoming the second Hindi film to achieve the "enviable status" after Aamir Khan's "PK".

The Kabir Khan directorial has continued its golden run at the box office while breaking various records since its release on July 17 -- a day before the pious ocassion of Eid.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" collected 2.45 crore on Wednesday (August 5) and crossed the 300 crore mark in 20 days since its release, a source said.

Confirming the news, trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared on Twitter on Thursday: "#BajrangiBhaijaan crosses 300 crore in India... second film to achieve the ENVIABLE status, after #PK... second HIGHEST grosser ever. Hindi films."

The film achieved the 300 crore mark on August 5, the same day when Salman's 1994 blockbuster "Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!" released 21 years ago.

Adarsh shared: "5 Aug 1994. #HAHK releases. Creates HISTORY... 5 Aug 2015. Exactly 21 years later, #BajrangiBhaijaan too creates HISTORY, crosses 300 crore.

#BajrangiBhaijaan (Week 3) Friday 4.11 crore, Saturday 6.80 crore, Sunday 9.07 crore, Monday 2.75 crore, Tuesday 2.63 crore, Wednesday 2.45 crore. Total: 300.06 crore. ATBB (all-time blockbuster)."

Rajkumar Hirani's "PK" had minted over 330 crore in India.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan", Salman's first film after he was granted bail in May against his five-year jail term in the 2002 hit and run accident case, will also be screened at the forthcoming Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea.
