8 Indian Classical Music Festivals to Give you Relief from Bollywood Numbers


Madras Music Season:

Started in 1927, Madras Music Season is celebrated every year in the mid of December and January in Chennai. This fest allows young artist to display their talent and skills in front of large audiences. The festival has grown with years and in 2004-2005 the fest witnessed 1,200 performances by about 600 artists (about 700 vocal, 250 instrumental, 200 dance, 50 drama and others).

Tansen Music Festival:

This is the biggest festival held in the month of December in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.  All the artist and music lovers gather here to take part in the event from all over the world. The event is organized near the tomb of Tansen by the Academy of the department of culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The academy also invites various artists from all over India to deliver vocal and instrumental performances.
