10 Must Watch Bond Movies

Bangalore: The Name Is Bond, James Bond. The fictional British Secret Service agent created by Ian Fleming in 1953 is still a household name. James Bond appeared in 12 novels and 2 short story collections. The 007 agent was immortalized on the big screen since the year 1962 when Sean Connery played the first James Bond in the movie “Dr. NO”. Bond is still a favorite and the latest 2012 Bond movies; Skyfall starring Daniel Craig hit the theaters just recently in the month of November 2012. 

23 Bond movies have been released since the first one and there are a few more movies in the pipeline. In the past four odd decades the character James Bond has been played by 6 actors; Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

James Bond: Sean Connery

Dr.No was the first James Bond movie and it was the best introduction of the world to the new spy character. If there was any actor who personified Bond it had to be Connery. None of his successors have been able to beat Connery in the portrayal of the British Spy. 

Plot: When the British Intelligence Station Chief in Jamaica is killed, Bond is called in to investigate the murder. It is here that they encounter the villain Dr.No who lives on one of the Islands.  He captures James Bond and the local shell diver, Honey Ryder who helps Bond. Dr. No then reveals that he a member of SPECTRE (the Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion). Dr.No’s plan is to interrupt the Project Mercury space launch with his atomic-powered radio beam.  

But Bond saves the day by escaping the island with Honey and also killing NO and blowing up his Island as well. This movie was adapted by Richard Maibaum, Johanna Harwood, and Berkely Mather and was directed by Terence Young.
