#2 LibreOffice:

Developed by The Document Foundation, LibreOffice is a free and open source office suite that works using OpenOffice as the core. The office suite was initially designed to be compatible with other major office suites, including Microsoft Office. LibreOffice is right now available a number of platforms like Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. The software is written in C++ and Java.

LibreOffice offers six applications in their suite namely, Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Base and Math.

#1 Apache OpenOffice:

Apache OpenOffice is one of the best known office alternatives instead of Microsoft Office. The suite is free and open source software. The utility provides features like word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics and databases. Apache OpenOffice help users to open, edit and save all kinds of Microsoft documents.

The six major tools in Apache software are Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw, Base and Math. Writer is the word processor, while Calc is the spreadsheet application, Impress is the multimedia presenter, Draw is the image application, Base is the database collector and Math is the mathematical calculator.
