Vodafone Idea Teams Up with Team Vitality to Boost Indian Esports
Vodafone Idea has collaborated with Paris-based esports organization Team Vitality to foster the esports landscape in India. In a joint effort, Vi and Team Vitality aspire to generate opportunities and visibility for both esports fans and gaming enthusiasts, as outlined in a statement by the telecommunications company. Referencing the 'State of India Gaming Report 2022,' Vi highlighted the projection that the Indian esports industry is anticipated to reach $140 million by 2027, underscoring the potential for substantial growth.
The collaboration includes brand sponsorships, content partnerships, gaming events, and immersive large-scale experiences. Moreover, this alliance will empower Vi users to engage in esports activities, granting them exclusive entry to tournaments and teams affiliated with the Paris-based organization. "This partnership will create opportunities for budding esports talent from across the country to have access to professional players, master classes, meet & greets with esports talent and many other opportunities", said Vi.
Vi has already established a footprint in the mobile games sector by providing a diverse selection of hyper-casual mobile games to users through Vi Games on the Vi App. With the partnership with Team Vitality, Vi seeks to intensify its emphasis on esports in India. In recent times, Vi Games has ventured into the esports domain by organizing well-received free-to-play tournaments featuring popular games such as Call of Duty: Mobile, Free Fire Max, Asphalt 9 and Clash Royale, among others.
“We are excited to partner with one of the leading esports organizations of the world - Team Vitality. Together, we aim to drive and democratize access to the esports ecosystem in India. In the coming months, we will introduce some exciting esports and other youth-centric content for our consumers to experience", said Avneesh Khosla, CMO, Vi.
“We are exhilarated to announce our partnership with Vi. We are at a juncture where technology will catapult gaming to the next level and eagerly look forward to our journey together", said Randall Fernandez, Managing Director, Team Vitality India.
