Orahi.com Avers to Own Odd-even.com

BENGALURU: In India, commuting can be frustrating as well as tiring due to excessive automotives on the road, especially in metro cities. Though there are demands for alternate routes, flyovers, four-lanes etc, a simple way to save ourselves as well as others from this hassle is by carpooling our way. Carpooling can also be helpful in curbing pollution in a world where global warming is a constant threat. Itseemed to have taken off a bit late in India but nevertheless it is catching up as young office-goers have embraced it hands-on.

In a recent deal related to the carpooling business, Orahi recently made a deal with odd-even.com, a website developed by Akshat Mittal, a thirteen year old. The teenager launched the site in December last year to anticipate the odd-even vehicle rule implemented by Delhi Government in January this year to curb pollution in the capital region.

Though the monetary details of the deal were not known, it is learnt that the Class 9 student will be on the technical advisory board of Orahi, who will also mentor the kid for a year. The teenager was also optimistic about the deal and looked forward to his mentorship at the company.

After the entire acquisition process is completed, the users of odd-even.com will be redirected to the Orahi interface, making their user base jump up to 70,000. It will also enable the users to complete the transaction process over the web or app interface rather than use the offline option provided by odd-even.com.

Orahi, which focuses mainly on office-goers, recently managed to raise 3.5 crore from a group of investors - Indian Angel Network. It is also planning on expanding its services to the college-goers by launching a new product towards the end of the third quarter, this year.
